About the Designer...

I am a sixteen years old and have been working with programs such as Adobe Photoshop (6.0, 7.0, and CS2) and Dreamweaver for about four years now. Ah, but don't let my age or "lack" of experience blind you from my expertise in the fields listed above! My age has an advantage in that I produce unique, newer designs that appeal younger generations and that make the older ones marvel. Below is a little (...a lot actually) history on how I came into this field at such a young age.

I credit three sources for getting me into this. 1) My love of horses 2) a website called Neopets and 3) a website called Horseland.

One day I went to the page of a user on Neopets. I was just reading around when I saw a little message that changed my life forever. "If you have an account on horseland, please send me a stable buddy request!" My eye was drawn to the word Horseland. What word is at the beginning of this compound? Yep. H-O-R-S-E! So off I went and searched "Horseland" in the Google search engine and was delighted when I found a match! I signed up right away and was happily piddling around when I came across a beautiful image. (on horseland you can train, breed, and sell virtual horses and on any given horse's homepage you have an option of putting a picture that is supposed to represent said pixels.) I wanted to be able to create such things!

Well, Microsoft Paint was all I had. How was I supposed to be content with adding stupid words to pictures when other people were out there creating beautiful graphics that could easily go for at least $20 in the real world! So what did I do? I went complaining to daddy. My dad has worked at a company in web development for many years and I was just sure he could solve my problem. And he did.

I remember just how it happened. We were driving home one day and I had started asking him how people could cut an image out of its background and place it onto another one. My little mind could not figure out how you could tell the computer which part of the image to keep and which part to cut away. On the contrary, the answer seemed fairly obvious to my dad. Adobe Photoshop. I then began prying and asking how you could get such a program and how much would it cost. “We should have it at home.” Silence. I can’t remember know if I was so excited that I was speechless or if I was pissed that I hadn’t asked sooner, but it didn’t matter.

I went right home and found it under the “Start” menu. Sitting there innocently under the “Adobe” tab. Using the help feature and my own curiosity I began playing around in this HUGE program. I started getting pretty good (though my cutting was kinda sloppy) and when I showed my dad my graphics (or should I say my pride and joy?) he insisted that I was good enough to make real money for them and not just game money.

I should add that in the midst of all of this I had also become interested in the layouts that other players had. I wanted to make those! So I did. I found a few simple HTML tutorials online involving scroll bars and expanding tables but with the help of Dreaweaver (which I was happy to find also resided on my computer) I didn’t need to know much about the code. Through the making of close to 50 layouts I did become familiar with the code and what it could do. I was by no means an expert but (going back to my dad suggesting I make real money for my graphics) I knew enough that I was able to create a website for myself. My dad helped me with getting a domain and setting up an FTP account (this must have seemed as easy as breathing to him but it completely fascinated me.) You may be wondering how this website turned out. Well Reader, you are reading content from it at this very moment!

Aside from this website, I have made two others for local clients which can be viewed by clicking on the “Web Design” button on your left.

I hope I have not bored you with this “little history” of myself. I was honestly not expecting it to be this long! I applaud you Reader if you have taken the time to read through this whole thing and hope you have not forgotten the reason why you came to my website in the first place. If I may jolt your memory, it was probably because you were interested in my services! So please finish looking around my site and always remember that you should never hesitate to email me with any comments, questions, or inquires.
